Instant Rumble runs around the clock — even at night four historic bots keep the match warm. One shot, one kill. Low gravity, high jumps, long arcs. Walk in and you're already playing.
We were a highly ranked clan, competitive players — but we always played for fun. Formed in April 2005, and, as the name suggested, we liked to play it to the extreme.
ZoomInstagib · Low-Grav
The signature mode since 2004: zoom rifle, one-shot-one-kill, low gravity and MultiDodging — endlessly kicking off walls, dodge after dodge. Fast, vertical, unforgiving.
481 maps · ~40 own
A huge pool of 481 map files, including about 40 hand-built DM-XIR community maps. After every match the server picks again.
Mutators aplenty
ZoomInstagibExtra, UTComp, MultiDodging, Zound, LowGrav. That is why we run as a Non-Standard server on purpose — exactly as intended.
Bots that talk back
The named Rumble bots answer real questions in public chat — German or English. They chat, tease and trade one-liners.
Type a keyword into chat and the server plays the matching sound for everyone. 183 triggers from the original 2008 soundpack — untouched.
Open the soundboard →A server that runs around the clock needs more than anonymous targets after dark. The bots keep the arena warm so every round can start at once. Giving them distinct characters turns placeholders into a familiar regular crew.
All five are fictional characters, openly recognisable as bots. Their small biographies guide voice and humour — and their original UT2004 skins show who you are facing in the arena.

Since the olden times
First home to the SBD clan, then to XIR: when SBD split, some of its members formed Xtreme Instant Rumble in 2005. We remained friends.
From UT2003 comes his own server: "Xanton’s Instant Rumble" — ZoomInstagib, low gravity, 125 % gamespeed. Not everyone liked it. Those who stayed are friends to this day.
Back online. Both servers run again — new hardware, a maintained Linux base, the same ports. And bots that now talk back.
Left for dead, too stubborn to die
In late 2022 Epic pulled Unreal and Unreal Tournament from every store and shut down the official master servers. Two decades of gaming history — offline almost overnight.
In 2025 the OldUnreal project took over maintaining the code — with Epic's blessing — and shipped the first official update in years. Today you get UT2004 for free: an installer pulls the original game data and patches it automatically, the fixes live in the open on GitHub, and it runs again on current Windows, Linux and the Apple-Silicon Mac.
